Rosciola Wheat

History
The presence of this kind of wheat in Abruzzi is documented at least since the year 1537 by a notary deed regarding the territory of Torino di Sangro (CH); it was used for the production of bread and pasta.

Current Production Area in the Park: This variety has been found in the Province of L'Aquila, especially in the Municipalities of Calascio, Castel del Monte and Santo Stefano di Sessanio.

Description
Tender and high wheat, characterized by the presence of medium-long ears and by dark-colored spikes. The variety is ideal for wet mountain soils, in particular in the valleys and basins.

Product Availability:
Sowing takes place in autumn and harvesting in July-August. It can be found all year round, even if quantities are limited.
